Electrical problem

My Mercedes is a 300D. My signals stopped working and I heard a buzzing from the turn signal relay so I replaced it. I put it in and it worked briefly then I checked the emergency flashers, they did not work and now the same thing, no signals and relay buzzes when you use signals. I have absolutely no idea what to do next. Very unfamiliar with electrical stuff. Any ideas on how to proceed greatly appreciated.
