How do you change the oil in a 1980 240 d?

Hi there,
with a suitable size container, at the ready, warm engine up and shut down. Remove sump plug, (large plug on engine sump, drain oil. When drained replace washer on drain plug & re fit. If you want to replace the filter, it is in a canaster on the L/H/S rear of the engine. Undo the nut at the bottom and the canister& filter will come off. Be careful with the internal spring under the filter, replace the seals & carefully re fit the filter & canister, hold up into place and do up bolt. Add oil and run till pressure is stable on gauge. Shutoff and let sit or a few min & re check level, check for leaks at plug & filter.
