1979 Other Mercedes Benz Models Engine Stalls

MY engine stalls at a red light. but starts right back up.

for the last two weeks I have to turn the key and pump gas to start it. and just today it stalled for first time while I was waiting to make a right turn.

What could this be? It has never done this.

my car is 1979 450 SEL 6.9L it is not a diesel

There could be many things causing stall. Would you provide some history of repairs and tune ups, filter changes ect.

It was my grandmothers for 30 years. all maintenance regularly.

Thats why I dont know whats wrong. I havent gotten a check up in awhile. so maybe it's due.

Just wanted to see if there could be anything else wrong

I suspect a fuel problem possible fuel distributor. dIs idle lower than normal ? and when it stalls does it cut off quick or stumbles and dies?

It stumbles and dies...but quick not low.

how much does is cost to repair a fuel distributor?

I would run some fuel system cleaner in tank see if it improves. Product by Chevron called Techron is good
