1994 Mercedes Benz E420 Door Illumination Lights Stay On

Hello –

I can’t tell by the diagram………do you have a door ajar light on the dash…….if so when you are in the car and it is running is this light on?

And if I understand you correctly, no matter what the dome light stays on with the car running or off, day or night

not sure what diagram you are referring to, but there are no "door ajar" lights on his dash. Nothing is "out of the norm" other than the illumination lights are staying on on the rear doors only, NOT the dome light.

Hello - Thank you very much for the info........ The diagram I was referring to is the wiring diagram for your vehicle............. I was checking to see if there were any indication lights on the dash, the door ajar in this case to see if the door switch was not working correctly. Many times the door switch controls both the interior lights and also tells if the door is ajar.........since you don't have any indication on the dash of a door being open........that provides more info. Thank you for the info on the rear doors only......... Are you pulling Fuse C, a 16amp fuse to turn them off? It appears that the wiring diagram shows both rear doors go through a rear dome light switch. Are you sure the rear dome light is not burnt out and the switch has been turned on since it just started?

If this is okay my suggestion is to remove each rear door switch one at a time. Disconnect the connector and see if the light goes out, then jump the wire and see if they come on. Let me know what you find out.
