2002 Mercedes Benz E320 engine dies with no warning

I was driving down the road at about 35 miles per hour when all of a sudden the engine dies. tried for about 15 minutes to restart and there was absolutly nothing. Then I tried it one more time the the engine started with no problems and I was able to drive about 4 miles home with not a hint of a problem, except that now I have an engine check light.
