2002 Mercedes Benz C240 instrument cluster malfunction

Hey guys, simply put, the electronic readout in the "information/malfunction screen" in the instrument cluster starts to fade out to the point it is not legible.

Often, when I start the car the entire display is bright. It starts to fade within a minute or so with the top portion and the bottom portion fading first. Any suggestions are appreciated.
