1997 Mercedes Benz C180 Windscreen wiper realignment issue

I have a problem with my windscreen wiper. It works fine, but when I turn it off the windscreen wiper no longer return to its normal place - instead it stops infront of the drivers side of the front window, which makes it difficult to see the road when driving.

Please can someone explain how this can be resolved?
