2002 Mercedes Benz 430e Hard Starting

When I try to start the car, the engine turns over several times before it will actually start. It does not matter whether it is warm or cold.

Does anyone have a list of causes that I could use as a starting point to fix this?

Has original spark plugs. Want to explore other options before replacing all of the spark plugs in the car.
