2001 Mercedes Benz 320e Seat positioing controls

One day while driving the passenger seat started moving by itself, all the way in the forward position
towards the dashboeard and all other adjustments ( head rest back etc) moved to down to or forward to the max positions.

I tried to reset the memory but when I press the reset the seat goes all the way back to the max until I let up on the reset button (the green button).
When I try the individual buttons to adjust the seat they work until I let off the button, then the seat automatically reverts back to the extreme forward position again. I cannot reset or postion the seat with memory.
