car seems normal when cold or inital startup. after a few minutes or when warmed up, car wont shift into reverse. after cars sits a while, reverse works when selected. ....... no strange noises, no leaks,

I read this and thought this sounds like my car. When the car is cold it will shift into reverse but when it warms up it won't.

Thank you Danny; my car is a 300se 1989, Vin #WDB126 024 2A496713;my problem,no reverse after warm-up;the mileage is under forty thousand miles; your advice is humbly solicited. The car was purchased in Stuttgart Germany brand new 1989.
