I recently purchased a 1989 300E that sat in the garage for over three years. After replacing the battery,I tried to start the car,I hear the starter engage, but no engine response. I dropped the starter and had it checked, works fine.My question is,could there be a switch or sensor that is prohibiting the car from starting. Thanks,Stan West

after the vehicle has sat for so many years the first thing to check is if you have fuel pressure or if the fuel pump is working, most people do not run premium fuel as required by Mercedes, therefore the pump maybe seized

Are you sure the spark plug wires are on correctly? Have you checked ignition timing? It sounds like it is out of time.
