1984 Mercedes Benz 300d Battery Check Light on when car is

1984 Mercedes Benz 300d Automatic 201000 miles

My 1984 Mercedes 300d check battery light comes on when I turn the ignition off. It is not on when the car is running. I've never heard of something like this. Any advice would be great....Thanks

it could be a couple of problems, 1. The ignition switches faulty or 2.The starter solenoid has malfunctioned. try lubricating the ignition switch and turn it on and off several times and see if that does it, also tried disconnecting your battery and reconnecting it and see if that helps.
