Engine Mechanical problem
1984 Mercedes Benz 300cd Two Wheel Drive Automatic 242000 miles
My 1984 Mercedez Benz 300cd engine was just recently entirely overhauled.
While on the freeway, the engine started making a loud noise, like it was stuck in gear only much louder. Soon after, I could hear something fall out from under the engine and smoke came out from under the hood. What looked like a rectangular bracket about shoe box size fell from the engine completely charred, and the air intake hose had a crack in it. I was able to start the car again with some effort, but a lot of oil spilled out when the engine turned over and it did not sound right. The shop it is at is saying the engine block is cracked. I don't believe this, rather I think it has something to do with the air intake/overheating. Any ideas? Thank you
