1992 Mercedes Benz 190e leak

Wash away the antifreeze and dry out the area. Start engine and note where the anti freeze is coming from. There are a few coolant hoses and pipes around the area and could be from them. When engine heats up, pressure would build up and sometime hoses have pinholes that would not leak under normal circumstances but would do so after it heats up.

Though a pressure test have been done, it could sometimes not be comprehensive as the time taken could be too short.

Nope the leak is very apparent to around the bottom of that black circle there in the photo. The mechanic suggested that a hose might have a micro leak that squirted.Am I correct that behind there is the timing chain (in an empty -not oil or antifreeze soaked - area then the after that valves and stuff soaked in oil?. i am going to run and set looking at it for some time to try and figure it out.

I concur with the mechanic's view about a micro leak squirting onto the area. Behind the half moon seal are oil based components such as timing chains and sprockets and no chance of coolant coming from there. If coolant is coming from behind the seal, then the engine oil would be contaminated and become milky.

I just want to thank you for your help. The search is on. It seems like a simple machine and I should have the repair manual soon that will help as I try to fall out of love with my volvo and into with mercedes
