1991 Mercedes Benz 190e transmission wont come out of 2nd g

I just experienced this problem of not coming out of 2nd gear. Going through a car wash triggered it which makes me think I have shorted out an electrical connection, etc. Any ideas?

hey.i hear they had problems with that car's transmission doing just that. it does it all of a sudden and without warning...i sold mine and eliminated the problem all together.something inside the valve body was all i could figure. i just didn't have time to repair mine as it was just a car i bought to resale anyways.
