Transmission problem
1990 Mercedes Benz 190e 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 150k miles

I asked a question and donated earlier with no response, so lets try it again. My 190e all of a sudden stopped shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. Fluid is full and dosn't smell burnt. No leaks. I have been told that it could be the pump pressure. I would like to try to fix it myself if possible. I didn't pay a lot for the car but have dumped a boat load of money into it. Please help. Hello, there are several types of transmissions they used in that car. Please inspect the transmission pressure lever connection; sometimes the bushing that is connected to the throttle becomes disconnected. -OR- Check the vacuum hose that goes to the vacuum modulator to test for the delivery of vacuum. If neither of these applies the PCM will need to be scanned for trouble codes. If none are present disassemble the transmission pan and inspect the filter, if plugged replace the filter and fluid and recheck. If none of the aforementioned tasks proves to be effective you might have clutch pack or band servo seals that have failed. Unfortunately it is difficult to test this condition without disassembling the transmission. Please inspect and return to our site for more information when needed.
