Engine Performance problem
1986 Mercedes Benz 190e 117000 miles
The engine is vibrating when the car is accelerating but then stops when coasting. Today it sounded like something came loose and sure enough out the rearview mirror I see something roughly the size of a golf ball, black, and possibly plastic bouncing down the 4 lane highway I was driving on. Rattling and vibration was worse. It has been worse on highways and after being driven more than a half an hour for the past week. The rattle after the lost piece was still was worse. What could have been wrong to begin with and what could that piece have been? I'm taking it to the mechanics tonight but am stressing about it now.
