engine swap

I have a 1989 b2200 pickup with a 2.2 liter engine that has a cracked block. i have located a 1994 MX6 which has been told to me to have a 2.2 liter engine as well. my question is whether this engine will bolt up to the transmission in the pickup without major mods. Thanks, Bruce

No, it will not fit without very major modifications. the 1994 MX-6 is a 2.0L DOHC front wheel drive, four cylinder. the b2200 is a 2.2L SOHC engine, not to mention one is fuel injected and one is not. .and the intakes will not bolt to the head.

So no, it will not fit.

A Ford ranger engine might work I am not sure. If so that would probably be easier to find than a Mazda engine. The Ranger had a 2.3L engine but Ford also made a Ranger Diesel that was a 2.2L and either would bolt to the same transmission. You could even get a later model 2.3L Ranger engine that was fuel injected and put your intake and carburetor on it as long as it is engine that only has four spark plugs.
