I'm am trying to find out what glazed brake drums, pads, shoes, rotors lokk like. How do you know if they are glazed.
I was going to replace the shoes and drums on my 1993 Mazda B2600i 2WD, but when I got the new shoes and drums they had the same specs as the parts already on there. The shoes had the same amount of thickness and the drums (based on the measuring tape I had) had the same or maybe a little smaller (thicker) inside diameter than the new one did. The inside of the drums were shiny or glossy but no rough areas or grooves in them.
I have been reading how glazed brake shoes, pads, rotors, and/or drums can affect the braking but, I can not find any description or picture of what this looks like. The only thing I could find is there is discoloration. My drum appear to be black shiny on the inside no noticeable discoloration other than that.

What are your brake problems? Squealing? thats mostly what you get with glazed drums or rotors.
So what is the concern? Yes the drum is glazed! Machine it if you must!
