I have a 92 b2600, 2 wheel drive, with about 230,000 miles, no transmission trouble in the past.
Yesterday while I was driving on back roads (some washboarding some potholes) my manual gear shift linkage became disconnected. lucky for me, it was in 3rd gear and I was able to drive it home via highways.
I can feel the shifter seem to center over the linkage but am unable to make it connect. The linkage is within a 'tower' on the rear of the tranny, is there a way to fix this myself, or is this a job that involves removing the tranny? The chilton's manual doesn't go into the transmission itself so I have no drawings/instructions.
