90' B2200 Front main seal replacement

Gentlemen,
My B2200 is puking oil around the front lower main crank pulley. Everything I have read says that is a front main seal problem. What is the best procedure to replace this seal in the truck. I have figured out I will have to remove the radiator and all covers on the front of the engine and get ready to remove the pulley. You guys have the tricks and I need some please.

Hello Case...

Well the bigger the space the easiest you can work ..
but, before you start taking apart everything try to loosen the harmonic balancer screw that is the hardest part of the process also make sure that you rent or get an harmonic balancer puller (in some cases that`s the only way to pull that out)
if you cant get the H.B. screw out you are going to need an impact wrench to take that screw out.
also probably you dont have to remove the radiator, because you didnt gain to much space, but if necesary !!..

No impact-you can use a breaker bar with the correct extension and socket 1/2 in drive ratchet slide it thru in a short piece of pipe-extend it then brace it properly on the ground or within the engine/suspension component.and crank the engine over using the key-this will break the center bolt loose.

Before you crank-disable the ignition coil so that it won't start.

Thats a really good trick! (be sure to use a good ratchet or breaker bar)
that way you don`t need that much space and avoid to remove the radiator..

Guys,
After the pulley is off, what procedure would you use to remove the old seal and install a new one?
Is it the old dig it out with a screwdriver and hammer thingy?;-) Is the seal a metal reinforced type and right there in front of the block?
I am not skillless, I have already done a successful valve job on this engine, I have just not gone into this area YET.
Next move please.

Hello..
well dig it out (do it with care!) yes, its metal reinforced you can compare it with the new-one (some times they are not identical painted metal, metal covered with rubber ) do you have the new-one on hand?
be sure that its the right one and be sure also to clean the crankshaft (if has a wear line leave the seal a little bit out to prevent future leaks)
install the new-one and put everything together..

Might I mention that you will have to remove the timing belt to replace the front crank seal. This involves the reoval of the crank pully and the timing belt. Best replace the timing belt at the same time...and the cam seal too.
