I removed the fuel tank to get at the fuel pump assembly( as distinguished from the fuel pump only).
Problems: 1) the top of the assembly was severely rusted
and seems welded to rest of assembly. 2)The screws , attaching assembly to tank, are frozen in the top of the tank ( screw heads had to be drilled off). 3) metal Gas
breather ( attached as part of tank) is severely rusted and weak. Interior of tank is in great condition.
Q : # 1 can the assembly be fixed/ is there a repair/replacement available ? # 2 will I have to drill out the screw bodies or is there some kind repair part available ? Same for # 3 Would I need to get a new
assembly and tank ??
