how do you loosen the oil drain plug ,is it clockwise or counter to loosen and where is the oil filter

If you are under the car then the filter should be on the right side (passenger side).. a bit up behind the oil pan. Its difficult to find it as Proteges have a very tiny filter. The oil pan should be on that side too. You may notice a similar pan on the driver's side. DONT drain that one. To open the nut, turn it counterclockwise.
