2003 Mazda Protege 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Code check = 0171 "Too Lean"; car intermittantly idles rough when stopped in traffic and hesitates on acceleration. Idles normally when in park. Where do I start?

A good place to start would be to check for vacuum leaks. Sometimes you can hear a hissing noise and trace it to a leak.
