My 1996 Mazda Protege needs a water pump replaced. I have the part but wanted to know an estimate of what the labor for this job would be so I can know I am not being scammed. Also, would you advise doing the timing belt at the same time (i also have this part) and how much more would you expect it to cost for labor?

Hello and thanks for the donation!

Is this vehicle equipped with the 1.5L or the 1.8L engine?

Thanks for that info. Below is an estimate for the labor ONLY of replacing your vehicle's water pump. I would suggest having the timing belt replaced as well, they shouldn't charge more since it has to be removed to replace the water pump anyway..
