1995 Mazda Protege Hard Starting

Ok I need you to do something and get back to me at to how it works ok. When you turn the key on engine off you should hear the fuel pump right. So in the morning when it is cold turn the key on engine off (do not try to start it), then turn the key off for about 15 sec., turn key on engine off again and do this about 3 times then try to start it and let me know if it starts right up ok.

I tryed what you asked but it did not change. It still takes a long time to start when cold but fine once it has warmed up.

Ok great that tells me the fuel pump is working. Now we need to test the coolant temp sensor to see if it is bad. What you need to do with a digital multi meter is measure the resistance of the sensor. So unplug it and set you meter for ohms and test resistance on the sensor across the two terminals. Let me know what you find and what the temp of the sensor is. So if the engine is at full operation temp then it should be about 200 deg. If it cold then what the outside temp is will get me close enough. At full operating temp you should read 200-400 ohms anything more or less the sensor is bad and needs to be replaced.
