Hi

occasionly my Mazda 6 2006 model loses power when i accelerate.

It has happened on hot days (maybe coincedince)
It was bad when once when i used a 10% ethnol fuel mix., but recently happened when using 98 premium unleaded.

The car seems to choke and loses power when i press on the gas, (moreso when i somewhat aggressively step on it,)
It tends to get worse and then the car will hardly power forward at all. It will choke up and backfire, even when i have the pedal to the floor.
I stop turn the engine off and restart and i can drive for a little longer before it happens again.
I get home and the next day it seems ok. until the next time. It just doesnt seem to run smoothly as it should

Any ideas

Thanks

Could be a bad cat converter, heating up and causing a restriction. Loosen exhaust and get it hot and see if it runs ok

I had a 2005 Mazda 6 s , i had problems at around 5000+ rpm sometimes it would lose power and barely even accelerate, I took it back to the dealer they said they couldn't find anything wrong and not too long later the motor blew up on me

I took it back and since I didn't have oil receipts (even though it was regularly changed) they wouldn't cover it on warranty, so a heads up in case yours is headed in the same direction...

It also had 2 situations where the car's motor just quit producing power and I had to pull over and mess around with it, finally it just went back to running normal
