Hi, I am working on an mx6 for my brother in law, and the story that I got from him was that he just got a new fuel pump installed, and he took the car on a long trip and after driving for a while it just quit on him on the highway. Now I can crank the engine but it doesn't fire. I have spark from the spark plugs, the spark plug wires are good, I can smell gas on the spark plugs when I pull them out after cranking the engine. When I disconnect the fuel line from the fuel filter and turn the car on I don't get any gas from the fuel line, but when I crank it I get some gas out of the lines. I can hear the fuel pump and it doesn't come on until I crank the engine, and then it stays on after I stop cranking. I pulled the engine codes, and I found a code 2, 41, and 46. on a 93 none of these should keep the car from running, and the battery won't stay charged. any suggestions would be appreciated.
