My drivers side window will only go up 1/4 way and then stops. If I press the button up and down eventually it stops working all together. The repair shop said it might be the motor but they will have to open the door up to check.... if it is the motor is this an easy repair for my husband - he did previously replace the window motor on his 1991 Mazda Miata when it died? Also..... does it make a signifigant difference using Certified Mazda Parts as compared to aftermarket parts??? The aftermarket parts seem to be at least 1/2 price of Mazda parts. Thanks! Colleen

I would agree that the motor is at fault. The reason it eventually quits all together is because that circuit is protected by a circuit breaker and when you use that motor, it draws WAY too many amps for that circuit. The breaker trips and has to cool off before it resets. Then it starts working again. Bottom line, replace the motor. And yes, if your husband can replace one on a Miata, he should be able to do this one, as well. And don't be scared of the aftermarket parts. I do this for a living and that's just about all I use if they're available.
