1999 Mazda Millenia supercharger

I'm not sure what's going on with my millenia but after the mechanic installed all new belts, thermostat, sparks plugs and a water pump, he test drove it and told me that the supercharger is no longer working. the car runs fine it's just that i have no boost power and it doesn't change gears til the rpms are between 3 and 4 and as i accelerate the temperture guage is almost on the H and when the gear finally changes the guage slowly falls back to the middle. any idea what's happening? and also i was told that if my supercharger is not working my car wouldn't run at all. please help thanks

I would get a second opinion from another mechanic, preferably one familiar with the millenia s. Any active lights on the dashboard would help indicate the cause of your problems.

Shift hesitation is pretty common with the millenia s, though I imagine it's exacerbated by whatever problem you currently have.

If you didn't suffer from these problems before you took it to the mechanic, I would suspect something was done incorrectly. Supercharges failing (at least failing completely) at 90k miles isn't unheard of, but it's not terribly common.

As far as the overheating, I would suspect a loose belt, bad water pump, or thermostat installed backwards.

For the power loss, I would first try resetting the computer. Disconnecting the battery for a few minutes should do the trick. Make sure you pull any check engine codes before doing so, as these will be lost once the computer is reset.
