1993 Mazda Miata turns over but won't start

My miata cranks fine but just won't start. It did this once before and I had it towed to a shop. After it sat for a couple of days it started, the shop could not determine any problem. I've checked fuses and they are OK. It kinda acts like its gonna start but no luck. ??????? can a fuel pressure regulator cause this ???or is it most likely the fuel pump??

Help!! I have the same issue with my Miata as well. I'm not mechanically inclined but can't pour endless $$$ into it to "hunt" for the problem.
