1993 Mazda Miata Can not shift gears

My 1993 Miata was working fine , the next morning I got in, cranked it up and it would not shift into gear. If I turn off the motor the car wiil shift with or without putting in the clutch.

Check thr clutch master cylinder for fluid level if down brake fluid works. Then pump couple times and try. Also put trans in gear tap the starter with clutch pedal to floor does it lurch forward. Then you have a failure in the master or slave cylinder.
