firing order

Hello , thank you so much for you're quick response. Do I just connect 1 to 1, 2 to 2, and so on? If so I have it this way now and the engine will not fire, it will turn but will not fire. I do have to say that I may have had it connected the wrong way and tried to start the engine, would this have cause another problem? Thank you for you're help.

You do connect the wires from the coil pack to the corresponding cylinders. Check your fuse panel for any blown fuses. Then perform a spark test and fuel test. The engine needs three things to run, Spark at all plugs, gas to all cylinders, and compression in all cylinders, tho an engine may run lacking one in one cylinder, it won't run very well!

There is a technical service bulliten out on the 3.0 engine, seems they have bad exhaust valves and are replacing the heads! See if you are under warranty and have it done! I will email the tech bulliten to you.

FYI

I ended up having to take my truck into the shop simply becasue the wire configuration was wrong. The wires do not connect in conjuction numerically with the distributor cap as stated in an earlier reply. The firing order does you know good if you do not know which cylinders connect to the correct distributor cap. I found out for 40$.

I show a coils pack for your year, and if you look on the coil pack in the diagram, it shows what number cylinder each terminal connects to? This is what shops use to attach the plug wires.

I had the wires connected as shown in you're diagram, 1 to 1, 2 to 2 ext and this is wrong. The engine did fire but it was only running on maybe 4 to 5 cylinders. Just for example the number 3 on the coil pack in you're diagram is supposed to connect to the number 1 cylinder.

Well the instructions have been wrong occasionaly, if you post the correct order and number sequence on the coil pack I will send it to the guys at Mitchell for a correction, can you do that please?

I will, it may take a few days. All I have right now are the first three cylinders. I will trace 4, 5 and 6 when I get time and post it to this thread. It is really hard to belive that I coulnd;t find this simple information anywhere online. Of course it is my own fault for not replacing each plug and wire one at a time.

Yes it is, but more unbelievable is Mazda/Ford giving out the wrong info!

Here are the spark plug wire connections for a 2006 Mazda B3000. These connections are based on Merlins diagram above.

Coil pack# 1 to Cylinder 3
2 to Cylinder 2
3 to Cylinder 1
4 to Cylinder 5
5 to Cylinder 4
6 to Cylinder 6

Changing out spark plugs and it runs horrible and has no power and popping. figured the spark plug wires aren't in the right order. Need help which wire goes where to which corresponding cylinder.
