Test Connector

The Test Connector is a green, one pin connector located in the engine compartment. When grounded, the test connector activates the self-diagnostic system and causes the dash mounted "CHECK" light to flash malfunction codes (California vehicles only). Test connector signal can be checked at ECU terminal 1E. When ignition is switched "ON," MIL lamp should light for three seconds with terminal voltage reading below 2.5V. After three seconds, the MIL lamp should go out with terminal voltage now reading approximately 12V. Crank angle sensor is part of the distributor assembly.

Now that I have the correct information I need, I can ask the correct question. I have a 1991 Mazda B2600i with a 159 motor/5 speed. It was manufactured in October 1991. I have codes, but no scanner. How do I retrieve the codes without the use of a scanner?

My wiring diagram looks nothing like the one you sent. Most all my wires are black/yellow with one blue and two single yellows. But, my connectors look nothing like yours. Can you tell me what TEN stands for?

I don't know what all the abbreviations mean. These are the standard Mazda diagnostic plugs. If your car has something different, you're going to need the manufacturer's service manual. That will show the plug and how to retrieve fault codes without a scanner.

one man said I could jumper wire between ground and ten plugs under the hood .but I don't know which two to jump

When problems occur in ECU monitored input or output devices, test the system to find the cause. During testing, failures of input and output devices are retrieved from the ECU as malfunction code numbers and displayed on the dash mounted malfunction indicator light (MIL). NOTE: The ECU constantly checks for input device malfunctions. However, it only checks for output device malfunctions in a 3 second period after the ignition switch is turned "ON" with test connector grounded. If there is more than one malfunction code present, the lowest number code is displayed first, followed by subsequent codes in numerical order. This procedure is only applicable to vehicles with an MIL system that will display codes. INSPECTION PROCEDURE Warm up engine to normal operating temperature and turn ignition "OFF." Ground test connector (Green: 1-pin) with a jumper wire. NOTE: Test connector is located next to self-diagnostic connector. Turn ignition switch "ON." If MIL illuminates, goes off, and stays off, no codes are present. If MIL illuminates, goes off, and then starts flashing, codes are present. Start engine and check for additional codes. If any codes are retrieved, refer to Malfunction Code Charts under DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS. Repair as required. AFTER-REPAIR PROCEDURE Erase ECU malfunction code memory by disconnecting the negative battery cable and depressing the brake pedal for at least five seconds. Reconnect battery cable. Ensure engine is at normal operating temperature. Ground test connector. Turn ignition switch "ON." If MIL illuminates, goes off, and stays off, no codes are present. If MIL illuminates, goes off, and then starts flashing, codes are present. Start the engine and check for additional codes. If any codes are retrieved, repair problem and repeat after-repair procedure.

thanks but how do I jump ground and tens pin ? what is tens pin ? do I jump green 1 to ground. the green 6 plug has 3 wires 1-yellow 2-blue and black and pin 5-yellow.1 plug green with red wire and 2pin yellow plug with 2 wires blue and black thanks

The instructions stater there is a connector with a single green wire that you have to jump to ground.

Correction........... the wire isn't green, the connector is. I see it in your picture.
