I have a 1988 Mazda 929 with a V6 3.0L Fl engine. It is an automatic and has 222,996 original miles. I bought the car early this year after owning the same kind just before that. This one had a new engine put in it and it runs very good. But it gets a lot less gas mileage than the one I had previously; About 19.5 MPG at its best verses my old one that got up to 26 MPG. It seems to run a little loud and vibrates some of the things in my interior. The check engine light also comes on when I am accelerating, then as soon as I let off the gas it goes off. It does this every time! Might it be my Mass Air Flow Sensor or something related to my fuel system? Please help! I will be more than happy to donate and spread your good name if your answer fixes my problem!

Check the fuel pressure and backpressure on the exhaust system and then comeback. Tell me both readings.
