I have a 1997 Mazda 626 LX 2.0L 148.000 miles and it has a manual transmission.
During the winter with snow, when i turned on the car i could not put any shift in. even if i forced it. i had to wait about half an our before i could force a shift in...once i started driving it would get softer and it would work normally. after afew months of this, one day...it just started working perfectly. and then after afew weeks of working great, (i dont know if this has anything to do with it, but right after I washed the car) it started doing it again. When the car is turned off, the shifts work fine, so i put in the second gear, then i turn the car on, and start driving with second gear for afew miles until they get soft, and then i can slowly start changing...
PLEASE help me, i dont know why its doing this and why from one day to another it stops and starts working again!
thank you

It sounds like you need to replace your clutch.
Thanks
