I have a 1998 Mazda 626 4 cyll 120 thousand mile car with a damaged belt wheel on my alternator..

I have had a few belts replaced but the belts always scream and whislte when starting up the car for the first time in the morning/

I have been told I need a new alternator because the damaged wheel keeps tearing up the belts.

What is a fair price for r/r alternator

what other work should I have done while the mechanics are in this far

I have had the serpantine belt replaced at about 80 thousand miles

Thanx for your help

Price isn't the best way to judge a shop, there are more variables. It varies regardless.

Warranty period for labor is one issue to think about.
The quality of the alternater is invaluable.

Lifetime schmifetime. Don't go by that exclusivley.

I have seen these alternaters seize up and snap the belt when they get hot. It has cost a few peaople engine from driving further.
