The problem is that I cannot turn the gas on and let the tank fill up. I need to put gas in about 1/3 of a gallon at a time. So I have to fill until the pump stops (as if my tank was full), fill, stop, etc. If I try to put in more gas than 1/3 gallon some will spit back out at me. The more the tank fills, the less I can put in at a time. The shop said it would be $300 to pull the tank down to find the problem. Any ideas??

Has nothing to do with the fuel tank. It has something to do with your EVAP emission system, more than likely the EVAP purge solenoid malfunctioning.

Thanks. Is that something I can possibly fix on my own? If not, what range could I expect to pay in WI?

You can probably do it yourself. Locate the EVAP canister on driver side firewall. Remove the vacuum hoses attached to it. Follow the smaller hose until you find the EVAP Purge Solenoid and remove the hoses and electrical connector. The manual shows you also have a 2-way check valve. If you do, replace it with a new one. This process should purge all fumes from the lines, and you should not have any more problem filling up your tank.
