1997 Mazda 626 Idle problems

I just brought my daughter a 1997 Mazda 626 it has rough idle when in the stop position. My brother whom is a backyard mechanic cleaned the IAV because the part cost too much. The idle seem to improve a little what else should we look at to resolve this problem.
