Transmission problem
1991 Mazda 626 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive 126000 miles

Hi there I am changing my clutch, the manual says I need a specialty tool to insert into the holes where the axles go into to keep the gears from being mis- aligned, do I really need the specialty tool or can I proceed.

Yes, you need to place the gear holder (specialty tool) into position so the gears will not get mis-aligned. It will save you a LOT of headache and time.
