1990 Mazda 626 engine stalls when tran's put in drive

Hi Rasmataz, the car is idling fine, but as soon as you put it in drive it loads up and stalls. Some times you can get it in drive and its fine until you get the revs up to 1500 - 2000 then it starts to stall . If you start the car rolling on a hill it is also fine. some times you can help it along by using the hold button (power/econ) I have a feeling it is transmission problem.

Do you have a check engine light ?

You might have to attempt to pull code/s from the transmission control module-

Double check the Throttle position and vehicle speed sensors-this sensors gives the computer the indications of throttle and governor pressures. If it checks out-time to have the transmission pressure tested-

My 90 Madza 626 had the same problem. I found a crack in the large hose that goes from the air filter box (on the drivers side) to the fuel rail. It appeared that when the car was put into drive gear, the engine rotated enough to open up the crack, causing to much air to enter causing stalling. As a temporary repair, I used duct tape around the hose at the area that was cracked and the car ran perfect. Hope this helps..Rich
