1997 Mazda 323 chuggish and misfiring

I have a 1997 Mazda 323 GXi (1500cc) with 92,000 miles on the clock.

When the engine is cold I have no problems with it but as soon as the engine starts to warm up it starts chugging and does not want to accelerate, it sometimes misfires. It is especially bad in 1st and 2nd gear.

I have had a new disributor cap, rotar arm, air filter, plugs and leads.

I have had it put on the diagnostics computer at the Mazda garage but they have not been able to find what the problem is.

Any ideas? I love my car and just want her to get better.

I would try an intake cleaning with a product called seafoam. Directions are on the container. but will elaboate if needed.

With the choices given ,I might try this one, IF you can raise the idle a little it will help the procedure. Take off the vacuum hose going from the intake to the brake booster at the booster. SLOWLY add the treatment to the vacuum hose, very slowly. This may help clean the intake valves and remove some of the fuel sucking carbon. May want to add one to the tank as well. I don't know if thses chemicals are going to be strong enough as I haven't seen or used them.

If you can get some acetone, that may work as well. While it makes me a little nervous I have talked to guys that have added directly to the fuel tank as well. I wouldn't use a lot.

Hi, I had a very simular problem, I got a frend to hold the throttel ope a littel, and disconected each injector electronics wires one by one untill i found one that made no difference to engine idel speed, (turned out to be faulty injector wire harness )
(I cleaned the injectors any way)
All sorted!! Good luck with getting it sorted.
