1989 Mazda 323 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

Am working on replaycing the head gasked on this Mazda 323, 1.6 i have removed everything out and i still can't take the head out, once i removed the valve cover i didn't see any regular looking bolts instead there were some star looking bolts in between the rocking arms are those the bolts i need to remove to get the head loose and out? ....thank you
