Engine Performance problem
1988 Mazda 323 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

WHEN TURNING OFF IT IS PRE-IGNIGTING,IS IT IMPORTANT TO HAVE THE TWO VACUCM ADVACE HOSES AROUND THE RIGHT WAY?IF SO WHICH WAY IS THIS?THANK YOU YR ANSWER IS A HUGE HELP!

WHEN TURNING OFF IT IS PRE-IGNIGTING, what do you mean by this-is it because the engine continues to run when you turn off the key or what?

thank you for yr reply mate...yes that is correct..the motor will not stop intanstly when i turn the key off. it continuies to do about 3-5 revoltions and smells strongly of unburnt gas... maybe the timing to advanced??????

Okay Mate recheck the ignition timing and also drop your idle speed it might be too high for a base idle.
