Master cylinder cap?

Is the master cylinder cap supposed to be loose my brake pedal feels soft I've recently replaced pads all way around and noticed that when I put fluid in reservoir the cap doesn't feel tight like any other vehicle I've owned haven't had the vehicle very long and trying to go over it and repair things as needed

The cap should be tight on the master but this will not make the brake spongy, it sound like you have a brake caliper slide that is sizes or there is air in the lines, please check for brake fluid leaks at each of the wheel as well. This guide can help with the calipers
