Transmission will not shift into gear, and it shut off while driving, then restarted itself

Will not go into gear, all indicator lights will come on even when I'm the only car on the road. When that happens, if you slow down or have to stop you are in trouble. Recently, it had begun to shut off then restart itself while driving on the road. I was told that it was because of the battery, and it was low on gas. Please help. Now i was told that by the two head mechanics at the dealership where I purchased it. Please, please help me before it gets me run over.

Maybe they know something that I do not, but I have never heard of being low on gas causing a vehicle to shut off and back on. So maybe I am missing some details on what is happening, but did they see the issue happening?

Is this something that you can make happen so that you would be able to show the mechanics what is happening?

However, what I would start with is checking for codes and find out if we have anything that will point us in the right direction.

If the vehicle is not going into gear and all the indicator lights come on, then I suspect we have some codes.

The fact that the battery is low would make sense with the transmission issue so we should check that if they did not check it for you.

They have run several code tests and according to them it always reads "no error". No, it's not something I can make happen. And they insist that it's just a bad battery. I believe that the alternator is also bad but I'm not sure how that corresponds with everything else.

Okay. If a dealer did this inspection, then they should not have to "think" it is a battery. They should have tested the battery and alternator to see if they failed.

If they did that and it did, then we do need to replace that because it could cause this.

If they did not test it, then most parts stores will test the battery for free for you.
