main battery fuse blew?

i disconnected the battery to remove the alternator and replace the A/C compressor. when i went to hook the battery positive back up the terminal lit up like a lightning show. It blew the battery fuse and now there is no power to the car. It has a breathalyzer which is hooked directly to the starter. need help.

Do you know which fusible link has failed? See pic below.

Also, was everything electrical turned off when you attached the battery? If it was, then retrace your steps. Make sure nothing is shorted at the alternator. Power does run directly to tithe alternator from link A.

Also, when you are installing the battery, connect the positive first and then the negative. When removing a battery, disconnect the neg first and then the positive.
