I have the vehicle listed above non-Magnetic Shocks Body Code FE1. No one has them can I use Magnetic Shocks instead. I understand they are regular smooth ride until electricity is added then they stiffen up. Since There is no electric circuit, they should just be regular shocks. Can they substitute. I gave my VIN number once here and was told I should have Magnetic shocks. I do not have them there are no circuitry in my car or on my existing shocks. I've replaced the rear and want to do the front. At 160k they should be replaced i believe. The Mag AWD Shocks are Identical to mines with exception of ability to stiffen up when voltage is applied.

I believe you can do so yes, but I found non-magnetic shocks here with springs for $160.00.

Here is how to install them. Check out the images (below). Let us know how it goes.

That link for shocks for 160 will not work. They are not for Cadillac STS AWD.. Thanks. I found the part number for Non Magnetic shocks
AC Delco Part # 540-601
GM Part# 19180778

The cost is ridiculous.
The Magnetics are $192.00 a pair Ebay
The Non-Magnetic are $289.00 each

That seems weird, the magnetic shocks are more money most of the time. You can take a chance with the magnetic, but I would install the original style of shock. Sorry about that, sometimes in automotive things don't make sense. lol

Yep, those are cheaper, keep in mind that aftermarket shock quality can vary greatly. I would use OEM shocks personally.
