I am doing LS swap and recently got my 5.3 LM7 motor back from machine shop. They did hot tank on block, but block came back to me really dirty. Shop put in new cam bearings and honed the cylinders but didn't have to bore it out. I want to do a wash of the motor with hot water and detergent like Dawn or Joy to clean it out good including all galleries. I'm just concerned about using water around the new cam bearings. What are your suggestions, if any, about cleaning the block inside and out?

Just use good hot water with Dawn dish soap to remove the dirt and crud. Cam bearings won't be an issue as long as you don't manually damage them. Once you have it fully clean give it a coat of paint to stop any flash rusting.
