Lower ball joint

Bought a new ball joints and did not fit. How do I get the ball joint into the lower control arm without damaging the control arm? I think there is slightly over sized to compensate for wear. Any help would be appreciated. thank you.

The ball joint is bolted to the lower control arm with two bolts. Are you saying those bolts are too fat?

No,the shaft will go in the control arm. In about 1/3 and that's it.

Any chance you can post a photo? The only thing I can visualize is the control arm is bent, making it impossible to fit the ball joint into it.
